I always love December. Not because Christmas falls in December or the fact that Mel’s and my birthday fall in December. It is because I love the weather. I love rainy days especially in December cos it rains almost everyday. I love it when it drizzles the whole day, just like today. It was raining almost the whole afternoon and Miemi was sleeping through the whole afternoon on the bed with the cushion covering her. She loves to sleep this way. Think she is waking up soon.

Was it raining on Mel’s birthday? Yes, it did rain. We went to catch Hobbits and dined while watching Hobbits. It was a wonderful experience. Mel didn’t know that I planned a movie cum dinner programme at GV Gold Class. When we were there, she thought that we were watching only a movie. When she realised that we were watching in Gold Class, she didn’t know I had arranged dinner as well.

We were brought to the lounge and Mel had a glass of Coke while I had a cup of warm water. We were offered some nuts to munch on. As it was still early, we had our appeitizer at the lounge first. It was ok for me.

When it was about time, we went into the theatre. Mel said that it looked like we were sitting on a plane with first class seats. I felt that way too. It was all so comfortable. Blanket was provided too. Silly me brought two pairs  of socks, just in case our feet were cold.

The wine was already served on our table. I had red wine and Mel had white wine. Both tasted good . Mel preferred the white one and I liked the red one.

As shown from the menu above, the main course was beef. As we do not take beef, the only choice that was given to us was only pizza. Oh… two types of pizza. One was hawaii pizza and another was mushroom pizza. We both ordered one each.

The pizzas were served in the middle of the show. I thought it wouldn’t taste good or fill my stomach. To my surprise, both pizzas tasted fantastically delicious! It tasted so much better than Pizza Hut and Canadian Pizza. Mel agreed too. Lastly, we had our dessert, a chocolate opera cake.

Mel and I were actually waiting for our tea to be served. We waited until the movie ends and yet our tea hadn’t been served, so I went to check with the staff and our hot tea was served in the lounge. I then presented my present for Mel.  I made mango agar agar for her, thinking that we could have agar agar for dessert but both of us were so full. Mel bought a big mango tart for me too. It cost $8. Expensive to me.

Overall, I felt I was being pampered. Sitting on such a comfortable seat with a big screen right in front of me and watching my favourite movie and nice dinner was being served. How pampered it was. Mel felt the same way too. I enjoyed the evening and I am glad that Mel loved it too. We will watch and dine again but this time, it would be at Shaw:)

….Miemi is still sleeping…:)

Since I am into baking, I hope to buy myself some good books to read.

20121207-223216.jpg

Both of the above books cost me $110 which is the most expensive books that I have ever bought in my life.

I have started reading the “Professional Baking” and am into understanding the formula. Professional bakers call it “formula” and we call it “recipe”. My objective is to be able to understand recipes and make adjustments correctly, as well as to create my own recipe and bake my cakes successfully. I find it interesting and would love to explore this further.

I baked a chocolate swirl sponge cake and a sultanas vanilla sponge cake yesterday. Mel said she wanted to eat, so I baked some. The sultanas vanilla cake is a little sweet, due to the sultanas and we felt that the chocolate swirl cake was a little moist. I need to understand why it was moist.

We have decided to bake a chocolate mousse and durian log cake this Christmas. Guess we will probably bake on the 23rd, which is a Sunday so that everyone can enjoy the cakes on Christmas Eve. I will bake a summer berries vanilla sponge cake with Christmas decoration if I am not tired.

Beside cakes, I will also create some new flower arrangements. I am still planning on what to do.

I hope I can finish both books a.s.a.p. Alright, say I give myself a month to complete, which is 7 Jan 2013. A brand new year huh :). And another month to complete for another book. Shall set it by end of February next year as CNY and Valentine’s Day fall on February. I believe I am going to be busy during these festive seasons 🙂 which I actually look forward to!

Miemi eats well and had a little diarrhea on and off. It is not always bad to have diarrhea. I believe her body needs to flush out some toxins. She is ok. Been drinking water which is good. She is sleeping in a little carton box right now. I left some treats for her for the night. Just in case she is hungry and needs some food. I did not give her dried food as I am afraid that it may affect her digestive system. Moreover, she loves treats alot! I did not give her more than it is told on the packet of treats. I give her moderate amounts.

Look at this sweet little girl…

Miemi had her 5th injection yesterday. The vet said that her condition is good and she would only need to have six injections instead of eight. I was happy upon hearing it but I never let my guard down. I will still feed her as usual and be with her 24/7:).

I can see that she wasn’t feeling well after the injection yesterday. She was so very angry when I brought her to the vet and was still angry when we came home. She didn’t want to eat and was extremely lethargic.

I didn’t want to disturb her. I allowed her to rest. Since she was not eating voluntarily last night, I fed her a/d canned food which I had bought from the clinic with e.excel’s nutriact and millenniums. Nutriact is made up of five different types of mushrooms. These are polysaccharide-rich mushrooms and are used as ingredients in anti-viral medication. As for millennium, it is made of cactus, royal jelly and honey to form an excellent source of phyto-nutrients. These phyto-nutrients help to boost the immune system.Although these products are for human consumption, I strongly believe that it can also benefit animals.

Miemi is sleeping at the couch and I am only sitting beside her writing here.

She didn’t eat voluntarily today but ate what I fed her which was nutriact and millennium mixed with her food. She is a good girl. Despite her poor appetite, she still eats it for me.

I know it must be hard on her. I want to make her as comfortable as possible. I am glad that she didn’t find a place to sleep alone. Instead, she sleeps just beside me. Now, stretching her four limbs. I like to see her rest, sleeping deeply cos her body needs to fight against the cancer tumour.

Nutriact and millennium each cost $251 and total is $502. Mel bought it for her. She loves Miemi too although not as much as I do. The next round will be my turn to buy for Miemi. Money is not our main concern. Our main concern is to see Miemi get her health back again and to go through this hard time smoothly and successfully.

Let’s see what sleeping position Miemi is in now.

Lovely. My wallet is just beside her. She just loves to sleep on something that belongs to us. Especially Mel’s. She just loves to sleep on her bag, shoes, sandals, etc…. Whenever we see it, we would just laugh at Miemi.

Mel was out town on Monday and will be back this coming Tuesday. She is on a business trip. She never stops asking about Miemi everyday. Guess, Miemi plays a part of her life too.

Look at Miemi’s sleepy blur face! She falls back to sleep shortly again. 🙂

Mel wanted to bake her first cake for her cousin’s birthday and I promised to teach her. It was a on a Saturday two weeks ago. She nearly forgotten about it. We baked the cake in the evening.

She was a good student. She listened to what I said. She made a little mistake here and there and was a little clumsy as usual:).

We took about two to two and a half hours to bake the sponge cake. Mel did very well in her first attempt. She washed all baking tools and it was the most relaxing baking day for me as I did not have to wash anything. I only gave instructions.

After the sponge was ready, we allowed it to cool. While it was cooling, we started preparing the chocolate mousse. Making chocolate mousse wasn’t easy. It takes some time to do it. Mel did as she was told obediently:). I could see the excitement on her face.

After the mousse was done, we needed to slice the cake into layers and spread the mousse on every layer, on the sides as well as the top. Mel loved this part alot. She seemed to have a wonderful time spreading it. I should say she enjoyed playing with it.

After spreading them, we left the cake to cool in the fridge. I could see that Mel was tired then. We went to bed slightly past 11p.m. We were exhausted as we started baking around 5 p.m. It was a long and meaningful evening for us.

The next morning, since we did not have a box to place the cake, we decided to go to Phoon Huat to get all the necessities. Phoon Huat opens at 9a.m. We had enough time to get what we wanted. We needed items to decorate the cake. At the end, we bought boxes for the cake. A “Happy Birthday” sign was placed on the cake and I decided to decorate strawberries on it since we were running out of time.

When we got back home, I whipped the cream, added some melted chocolate to make it into a chocolate whipped cream. Taught Mel how to use a nozzle to decorate it. She was able to do this well.

As there wasn’t any fresh strawberries at Phoon Huat, we got it at Mel’s place. Quickly, we went up to her place and sliced the strawberries and decorated them on top of the cake. This was the cake that she baked.

She was so contented with it though it was a simple cake and believed that her cousin would love it. She thanked me for it and we agreed to bake a log cake for our families this christmas.

Her cousin said it tasted and looked great!

Of course! I am also a good baking instructor:p.

OH! It was a chocolate mousse cake!

Take a look at Miemi’s wonderful shirt. She looks younger actually and indeed, she is young. The reason why she is wearing a shirt is because she has a wound on her back due to continual scratching. In order to stop her from scratching herself again and again, I have decided to get her a shirt. By wearing it, she will not have a single chance of scratching herself again.

Miemi had her meals today. I love watching Miemi eat and I am happy that she eats. She has lost tremendous amount of weight and it hurts me so much. There is nothing much I can do but to spend as much time as I could with her. I feed her everyday and shower her with lots of love and kisses.

I hope Miemi can be strong again. I want Miemi to know that she is not fighting alone. I am fighting with her and so does Mel.

Love Miemi so much…
