Year 2022! How fast time flies! With covid19 still spreading in the community, there are still restrictions for home visits. Well, I always love to stay home anyway. Since nobody will be coming to my place, there is no need to do a 100% spring cleaning.

I changed the wallpaper and all the cats scratching post in the common room. Look at how happy the cats were!

Kangkang

Look at Kangkang’s face. Soooo comfortable! Yes, new cat stand!

Galaxy

Galaxy was returned to us by his owner together with his 2 siblings quite some time ago. They were kept in the toilet at night and in a room by day. He is all comfy now! His siblings were coping well too.

Floofy and Xiao Ted

I changed the wallpaper in the living room too. That’s Floofy and Xiao Ted. Both are brothers. I have not seen them together for quite some time even though both live under the same roof.

There is nothing much to do this CNY. Just hoping to spend more time meditating and to sort my class notes and read them. To carry on reading the sutra and watch Ajahn Brahm’s explanation and teachings. That’s all I want for 2022.

3 ladies were rescued from a hoarder place. They were kept in a cage with 9 other cats. All were not sterilised. There wasn’t any water or kibbles for them. They pee and poop on their bowls. I got a fosterer to help take care and rehome Iris, Ivy and Ixora.

Ixora
Iris
Ivy

Ixora was adopted alone. Ivy and Iris went in pairs. Their families look good and I am yet to visit them. I hope to visit Ixora next Sat to do a follow up. So far, Ixora’s mummy has been keeping us updated.

When our rescues go to a good home, it is often a reward for us.

Sheli was a feral cat and heavily pregnant. That was how she ended here. No regrets. I have never regret on any cats that I brought home.

She never allowed us to touch her but I managed to get her for a dental scaling appointment. Sheli was quiet and mind her own business all the time. An extremely good girl indeed.

Sheli at her prime!

A wonderful smart looking girl. I know she loves to eat royal canin indoor kibbles. I would always keep a big bowl for her in the room and even refills it at night. I still remind myself to keep a bowl of RC kibbles for her this morning.. and goat milk as well.

Sheli was able to finish a bowl of goat milk all by herself. She would come to me and ask for some. I even bought another pack for her.

Life ain’t beautiful at all! With them, life is meaningful.

Our purpose in learning Buddhism is not to acquire knowledge;

It is to transform ourselves from selfish to selfless,

from ignorant to awakened,

from arrogant to respectful.

We learn not just by emulating those who are good,

we also learn to be generous by observing those who are selfish,

learn to be moral by observing those who are unrestrained,

learn to be patient by observing those who are demanding,

learn to be deligent by observing those who procrastinate,

learn to have meditative concentration by observing those who are heedless,

learn to have wisdom by observing those who are fearful.

Studying Buddhism without practicing is like studying how to play the piano, without ever touching the keyboard.

Truly learning the teachings is to fully integrate them into our lives.

We do not do so by study alone but by learning and doing.

If we learn but don’t practice,
we’ll end up forgetting.

While learning the Dharma, do not judge or compare.

Absorb it, so the seeds of goodness within can be watered.

It is not the quantity of teachings that matters.

It is how well we practice those that we have.

福田

This is Futian. I got her from Sembawang when I was feeding the community cats last week. Before I moved from Sembawang, I got someone to take care of two black cats. One is 小福, another is 福田。

I didn’t see 福田 for quite some time. I wanted to ask the regular feeder but keeps forgetting. I am glad that I saw her. I was so surprised to see her in such condition.

She ate well. 4 small cans of wet food daily and half bowl of kibbles throughout the day. After a week, I notice she is breathing heavily. We sent her to the vet yesterday. As usual, prognosis wasn’t good. Antibiotic, iron tablets and medicine to remove her fluid from her lungs were prescribed.

I am taking care of her and giving her my best. I also give her Mutian which is a supplement for FIP. Well, I suspected that.

She still has good appetite and she didn’t want to get out of the cage. Guess she must be tired of roaming and hiding.

Whatever she is suffering from, may she be healed!
