Cats who teach me to fly…

Piper is a community cat at Jalan Tenteram. The first time I saw her, she was all so skinny. That was a month ago. At first, I thought she was fussy over food. So I ignored her a little while. After a few times I just felt that it was not right for her not to eat always. I decided to feed her seriously, hoping to help her put on a little weight, just like Bluz from Hougang.

Everyday, I would make an effort to feed her twice a day. If I don’t see her downstairs, I would go up floor by floor to look for her until I find her. And until I feed her, I would pack and leave. If not I wouldn’t leave.

She had quite an appetite actually. If I did not come in the morning on weekends, I would ask someone to feed her.

It was ok for about a month until last Monday. I realised that she was not eating much and she breathe heavily. The minute I saw it, I knew it is not looking good on her. I was sad of course. I didn’t want her to go through all those needles and jab. I decided to bring her home to spend her last moment with me. To let nature takes it course.

At least she is safe from the road now and even though she is eating lesser, she still has food and water 24/7.

I boiled fish for her this morning and she ate a little. Boiled some salmon for her in the late morning but she didn’t like it. Left some canned food for her and she ate a little. I just boiled a prawn and fish for her and left her some canned tuna for the night. Wether she eats or not, the food will always be fresh for her.

She is getting skinnier and weaker. I pray to angels to keep her comfortable.

I want to spend more time with her tomorrow…

After giving Princess four days of medicine, she was able to walk again. Luckily it was nothing serious. Two X-Ray were taken and no bones fracture were found.

Dr. Tharm said that Princess was very stressful. When I got back home from the clinic, immediately I sent Bluey to the toilet and locked her. Princess began to eat without her present. Everything went back to normal for Princess after visiting the clinic.

I feed the cats at block 316. I used to feed them at block 317. Princess didn’t seem to get used to it. After I released her, she went to block 317. I didn’t see her these two days and I checked with the neighbours. Luckily there are still some helpful neighbours, otherwise, I couldn’t have done it alone.

I was told that she was sleeping at third floor of block 317 last evening.

Princess spent a week at my place and I noticed that her health condition is not good. It broke my heart seeing her like this. Stray life is not easy. We really do not know their health condition and how good can it be…

I will stay with them as long as I am alive. I will take care of them when they are ill.

Months ago, I was planting cat nip. I bought soil and seeds and happily I began to plant. Days after days, weeks after weeks and months after months, I did not see anything appear from the surface but today I saw something amazingly black appeared on the surface.

So, Sparkie is big enough to jump up to the washing machine. Not only Sparkie is able to jump up to that height, Hugo too. Vanilla and Minnie are still unable to jump up but soon they will.

They will be three months old next Monday, on the 18th. They run, climb, play and mess around. It is a joy to watch them actually.

Every month we will spend $700 on cats’ food, including community cats’ food. This does not include their medical and sterilisation bill. Now we don’t have to pay for sterilisation and we can save at least $100 every month. However, we have to come up with the medical bill ourselves and Mel contributes the most of it. Pets bill are extremely expensive.

With the family of five and Grace, our monthly expenses will increase.

Grace is old and prefer to settle herself in the cage. We try to let her out but she didn’t seem to want to move around. She only love her fussie canned wet food which I feed her twice a day.

I will keep her cage clean before I go to sleep. Infact, we are going to exchange her cage with Shunshun’s cage. Grace is going to have a three tier cage and Shunshun will have her cage. Shunshun can’t climb and he always falls from the second tier so we decided to exchange their cage. We wanted to do it this weekend actually but we were too tired. This morning I woke up at 7 to spray and prepare the cage for Princess. When I finished doing, it was already 11am. Mel helped out too.

I don’t understand why Yellow just loves to peep on Elka. She is doing now and often. Whenever she peeps, she looks cheeky.

Going to take my shower. After shower I am going to bring some food to Yiwang(一旺) downstairs. There is another two cats and they are not sterilised and always hiding. It’s hard to get close to them and I don’t see them everyday.

Three or four days ago, there were four stray dogs roaming at hougang. The block where I feed the cats. I was feeding at Blk 316 and suddenly I saw four dogs appeared from no where. Looking so hungry and hunting for food. They were opposite my block. Warrior was not with me. She was at the block where the dogs were.

When the dogs saw her. They chased her like crazy. I kept running behind them. Wanting to stop the dogs from chasing Warrior and to protect Warrior. Luckily Warrior was fast enough. She climbed up the tree. The dogs then left the scene.

I took the dogs photo and I seek Save Our Street Dog(SOSD) and Action For Singapore Dog(ASD) for help. I send a message to both of them but I received no reply or advise from them. They ignored me completely. I have read a lot about them, however, they are not what they seem to be.

I did not call AVA but the neighbours threaten to call. As long as the dogs are still around, all the cats will be in danger. I pray very hard for their safety.

Every time whenever I see the cats in Hougang, I felt blessed.

Princess is at my home now. She is limping. I brought her home yesterday. I heard from the neighbours at Hougang that she was chased by the dogs. She too managed to escape up to the tree. Perhaps she injured herself while running away from the dog.

I will monitor her and see if her leg gets better. If not I will send her to the vet. Hope she gets better.

I pray that the dogs do not come again and someone has kept them safe and well fed.

Three weeks ago, we passed by Mydin road and we came across a Siamese kitten. I left her plenty of dry food and water. Since I did not carry a cat carrier with me. Mel and I drove to buy a carrier. When we returned, we could not find the Siamese kitten.

We went back the next day to look for the Siamese kitten but we still could not find her. Mel found a tabby kitten hiding behind a few big vases of plants instead. Knowing that I cannot bring in anymore cats back home. I left the tabby kitten at where he was. I also left him plenty of dry food and water.

I cannot feed him everyday like I feed the cats at Hougang and Whampoa. So I make it to a point to feed him twice a week. He is not skinny or bony. I believe somebody is feeding him.

I fed him this afternoon. I gave him a small can of fussie cat wet food. He finished it all and gave me a contented look:). I left him plenty of dry food and water.

I could not get close to him. Whenever I try to get close, he would run and hide.

I said a prayer for him and left.

Looking forward to see him again this mid week.

I believe he will be safe.
