Cello was always hiding under the car whenever I drove by the carpark. Let’s make Cello a He! He is very thin. Two weeks ago, I thought I could perhaps build him up by feeding him 2 to 3 times a day, with both good dry and wet food plus supplements. However, it was impossible. The environment was just not suitable for both of us. And today, Cello is home with me!

Cello

The minute I brought him home, I sent him straight to the bathroom and had him bath! I want him to feel clean and comfortable. From my experience, he is likely to suffer from kidney disease which is common in cats. I tested his glucose level and it was normal. He drinks lots of water. We gave him what we give to our kidney disease cat. He eats more than when he was a stray and I was surprised. Sub-cut is done by Melanie. We need to give him our best. One thing we find it strange is Cello 4 paws are bleeding and swollen. We apply Argasol for him 3 times a day. It must be painful when he was in the street.

As he is so thin, I couldn’t see if Cello is a girl or boy but he is definitely a nice cat. We are hoping to give him our best. He will have what he loves to eat and with the support of the supplements like phosphorus binder, kidney activator, probiotic etc…

The meows never stopped. I thought it was from upstairs. So I ignored and carry on with my feeding. Finally, when I was about to go off and the persistent meowing sound was still echoing behind, I decided to investigate. I went to the 2nd and 3rd level. Looking at all corridors, I saw no sight of cats or kittens. I thought to myself it was just another cat meowing for freedom. I went down, carried my bag and began to leave and the meow came alive again. Fine! I put my bag down and went to another staircase, a much further one even though the sound didn’t seem to be from there. Nothing! And when I walked back to my bag again, there I saw a young kitten with its nose and mouth oozing with blood.

Looking at his condition at that point of time, he looked alright to me. I believed there was no internal bleeding and he was able to move around without difficulty. The only problem was there was an unusual sound coming from his nose. And it sound just like Ace. Ace was hit by taxi on his face. I believe Cotton fell from above and landed on his nose and mouth which explained the bleeding.

I had no carrier with me so I put him in a carton box. He came out from the box when we were in the car. He sat quietly on the seat next to me. It was around 10.30pm on the 20th which was a week ago. I sent him to the vet on the next day and the vet too would like to adopt him, however, the meshing would be problem to him.

It has been a week Cotton’s conditions were good and we decided to put him up for adoption.

Cotton is extremely playful. He loves the companion of other cats as well as humans. He is really very very cute! A few adopters will meet him this Saturday. I hope Cotton could go to a forever loving home.

Interesting topic to talk about tonight. I am always wondering what midlife crisis is all about, don’t we all have crisis every now and then? And so, midlife crisis is a transitional stage that happens between age 40 to 55 or 60. Transit to where I wonder!

I personally think that it is having a matured state of mind when we reach to a point where we really need to make changes to our life. Impermanence is real!

If changes such as letting go of appearances, boredom, less interested in meaningless activities that we used to do, I think such midlife crisis is not entirely bad anyway.

I had my head shaved off just two weeks ago. I have always wanted to do so but do not have the courage or find it necessary to do so. Just because I dreamt that I had my head shaved off one night and immediately the next day, I went to shave my head. To be honest, I like it anyway. My grey hair is more obvious now. Yes, I am getting old… I save the earth by using less shampoo and water and not using hair conditioner. A little contribution here:). Does it sound like an act of midlife crisis? I don’t know.

I still practise the Dharma but read less. Still love my cats, feed the homeless and rescue the helpless. After examining myself, I would say we are bound to make changes throughout our life. Crisis happen in all stages of life…

As I grow older, my mind is much calmer. I argue less and understand others more. It is like reaching to a stage where you want to let go of many things. The baggage is heavy and it is meaningless carrying it all the time. You need to let go, I need to be free.

No matter what or how someone talk about midlife crisis, I hope the transition everyone make is beneficial to others.

Shine hasn’t been eating. I knew that there may be some problem with his mouth. I brought all kinds of soft food for him. Hoping that he was able to eat while enduring the pain. I thought to myself, perhaps a trip to the dentist would solve the problem but when? So day after day, I was hoping that Shine’s problem would go away. However, he stopped eating most of the time and there were days I got worried when he didn’t appear. Finally, it was beginning of the month again and I decided to bring him to the vet.

A dental scaling was done but the whole thing has got nothing to do with his teeth. His teeth are good. Shine is suffering from stomatitis actually. Just like Sunshine, it is awfully painful and due to the enormous pain, many cats refused to eat. Shine is no exception!

Shine

I fed him with plenty of ice water a while ago and he managed to eat 3/4 can of wet food by himself. The last time he ate by himself was 3 days ago. Most of the time I have to force feed him.

I bought silver for him. And that’s my last resort. I really can’t think of anything better to solve his stomatitis. Even extracting all his teeth may not solve his problem.

What I am going to do tomorrow is to place the silver in the fridge and let Shine has it cold. I really hope silver could work for him.

Oreo

Oreo is another one that I have delayed the treatment. Her backside was stained with urine but she was able to eat well, therefore, I would just have to wait for the right time. For Oreo, we have decided to raise fund. So I posted on Facebook asking for help and I received a lot of negative comments. Comments that were distasteful!

Last night, Oreo was back from the hospital. She is not easy to manage. I had to cover her cage with towel. She meows loudly at night. Good thing is, she takes her medicine and I am able to apply cream on her butt.

With these 2 cats, my morning is longer and stretched to afternoon. When Oreo was examined by the vet, 2 maggots were found on her matted fur. Luckily there isn’t any open wound. It is just a matter of time actually…

Oreo looks better. We will release Oreo once she has completed her antibiotics and her butt is no longer swollen. As for Shine, I think he is going to stay with us a little longer.
