I practised Tibetan Buddhism for six years and applied the Bodhisattva way of life in my daily life. As a result, chanting and practices from this tradition were often mentioned in my early blogs. Until one day, it all collapsed.
Besides loving-kindness, the Mahayana tradition mainly emphasizes only the first five path of the Eightfold path. Due to the absence of the last three paths, the practice collapsed! Even righteous speech and action require a tamed mind and a tamed mind comes from right concentration.
I further explored and investigated other traditions and I got to know Chinese Mahayana and the Theravada Buddhism. I started reading the Nikāya as well as the Chinese sutras. At that point of time, I was looking for an easy way, a short cut, therefore, I treaded the Pureland path while also reading the Pali canon and this lasted for four years. I also talked about Pureland beliefs in my blogs.
After days, weeks and months of reading the Pali suttas, the Buddha’s teaching finally took root in my mind and I finally understood the Dhamma as a whole. I could discern the true teachings from the false one. I’ve understood the path leading to Nibbāna and the Theravada tradition is my choice.
Every cat plays an important role in my life. They are part of my practice. When they pass on, each one will be remembered, with their own story to tell. None would be left out.
This site is not only about rescuing cats but also a spiritual path, a learning journey towards liberation. The one and only path that our Buddha Shakyamuni laid down 2500 years ago!
