How 9 Months Flew By: Pebbles’ Journey to His Forever Home

27/08/2026 by A learning buddhist...

We finally got Pebbles into a suitable home last Saturday and he is settling in very well with his new family. I didn’t realise I had been taking care of him for nine months until Mel checked his vaccination card. That was a pretty long time.

The night before I sent him to his new home, Pebbles spent the night sleeping beside me. He was as cute as ever. I still remember the day I took him home without any hesitation. There were two reasons I took him home straight away, first, he wasn’t neutered, and second, he is a crossbreed. He was skinny and had a bad coat and skin condition. We knew it would take time, but our efforts have paid off.

For one second, Pebbles makes me wonder if he’s a bear.

I’m glad that the adopters are keeping us posted on his well-being. Pebbles also made it easy for me to leave the day I dropped him off.

Next, we’re going to concentrate on finding Kira a home.

  • I highly recommend reading the sutta translated by Piya Tan. His "Laymen Saints" has been an inspiration to many lay people.
