Miracle was spotted two months ago at Ang Mo Kio. Her photo was posted on Facebook by a passerby who noticed her broken paw but was unable to help.
This is Miracle. Take a closer look at her broken paw.
Caregivers including myself were looking for her for more than a week and finally, she was spotted at the same place. I got another caregiver to send her to the vet. She was at United Vet.
I visited Miracle on that evening and I decided to transfer her to Island Vet instead cos we rescuers know that United Vet charge unreasonably. We were charged $780 for x-rays, blood test, medicine on board and a night’s stay.
I transfered Miracle to Island Vet on the second day.
Nothing was done on Miracle on the first day at Island Vet.
I remember I was chatting with Mel when I received a call from Island Vet that Miracle had collapsed while the vet was attempting to clean her wound. She was gone for minutes. The vet managed to resuscitate her but was not confident that she would survive.
Mel and I rushed to the clinic. We understood that United Vet had pumped in a lot of medication on her. We also understood that Miracle’s wound was bad.
From the photo, we can see that Miracle’s wound was raw and her bone was exposed.
The vet told us that Miracle’s wound had been inflicted for quite some time as the maggots they managed to pull out were long… That must have been very painful for Miracle…
After Miracle was being resuscitated, the vet had no confidence that Miracle was able to regain her good self again. There was only blinking of her eyes that night and nothing more. There was nothing much we could do at the clinic. We went home with a heavy heart, preparing for the worst.
Dr Angeline was so kind that she stayed up that evening long after the clinic’s closing hour to observe Miracle. She texted us after 10pm that night to keep us updated that Miracle did blink her eyes but not awaken.
Even when the clinic was not open the next day, Dr Angeline who was not on duty that day went down early to take a look at Miracle. She texted to tell us Miracle opened her eyes…
Miracle progressed slowly and steadily with each passing day. She began moving little by little. We thought she might lose her eyesight. However, Miracle surprised us each and every day.
Miracle was hospitalized for a month. She was discharged two days ago.
She is home now. To me, she looks like Shunshun. She eats well, rest well and feels so comfortable.
Look at how sweet she is.
I questioned myself if I have regretted saving her. I am different from many caregivers. I not only feed, foster, adopt, rescue and rehome but I go beyond. I help them to be reborn in a higher realm in their next life. But how? As a buddist, I have faith stronger than many.
Mel and I, we chant and circumbulate them around holy statues. We dedicate our merits to them daily after feeding community cats. We make sure to chant and bless the food that we offer to them. In many ways, we help to purify their negative karma.
So no, there is no regret in bringing Miracle back to life. I have so much more to do and it will not stop here.
Miracle was named by me before all these had happened. She has proven that miracles do exist!
