We brought Bluey to the adoption drive on 8 June. A really nice chinese family of four approached Bluey and expressed their interest. From the looks of it and their conversation, they really were a loving family. So we decided to let them have Bluey.
The mother texted us to check what food Bluey was eating. We told her and i thought to myself that this family was anticipating for Bluey to be part of their family member.
On that very Sunday, 15 June, we brought Bluey over. To my surprise, they did not mesh up their window grilles and they also did not prepare any food for Bluey. We brought Bluey’s food that could last for a few days for them.
We sat in their house for a while to observe how Bluey behaves. She loved the place and I could.see that she was comfortable. We had a conversation with the family. It was their 17-year-old girl who wanted Bluey. Her parents were cooperative. They sounded perfect to me and I was happy that I thought I have found a loving home for Bluey. We left Bluey and promised to visit her again.
The next day, i saw the girl’s mother replied her friend on the Facebook that the reason they allowed her daughter to adopt Bluey was for her to learn to be responsible and to be compassion. Hmm…I was touched at that moment when I read it. I thought to myself, what a wise mother she was and Bluey has finally found a good home.
After four days, the mother texted to tell us that the family have no time for Bluey and their daughter was not ready for Bluey. I was driving at that time. I was not angry but felt cheated. Before adopting Bluey, we have made ourselves very clear to them that Bluey needs attention and love and they said they had no problem with that.
I told Mel whatever reason that they gave us were all excuses. I told her not to entertain them and quickly made an arrangement to bring Bluey back.
To me, they were only using Bluey for a try out. That was why nothing was prepared for Bluey on the day we sent Bluey to their home. No window mesh, no food…
I felt stupid but I learnt from mistake. So much for their responsibility and compassion.
My heart ached when I brought Bluey home. Her behaviour has changed. A little aggressive and angry. I promised I will love her more :). We have two adoption drives coming up but we are not putting her up yet. We need her to settle down first.
Will keep praying for Bluey….
