This single stalk of spotted dark brown and yellow mokara orchid is for Miemi. I didn’t know what is its name at first. There are so many types of orchids. All I know is they are orchids.
Don’t the flowers look beautiful and elegant?
I believe I will learn the names of many different types of orchids when I buy them for Miemi. Every species has its own name. As a florist, I think I should know what their scientific name is but learning and memorising them must be learnt in an interesting way. Learning them through buying for Miemi is an interesting way. Not only does this connect me with Miemi, I also get to know their names.
Mel and I had been visiting the garden exhibition during the last few years and we saw many different species of orchids. Some are indeed beautiful. Many are not sold in single stalks. They are usually sold in pots. I wonder when the next garden exhibition will be held.
I love flowers. Singapore’s weather does not allow us to produce all types of flowers as we are living in summer all year round. Unlike countries with four seasons, people living in such countries have the advantage of getting in contact with all types of flowers. Eg. daffodil and lavender, they are not suitable to grow in a weather like Singapore which is hot and humid. Our flowers are usually imported from other countries. We will never have a chance to witness such flowers grow naturally. But never mind, though the flowers are imported from other countries, they still look beautiful and attractive to me.
